Signature Kitchen collaborates with Italian Kitchen Designers

July 29, 2012 (Sun)  |  By Signature Kitchen

Think Italy, and images of food, fashion and romantic architecture comes to mind. Food and the kitchen is the central focus of family life, with the average Italian mama constantly urging her flock to "Mangiare, mangiare!" (eat, eat!). So integral is this aspect to their culture, that there is an Italian proverb 'La cucina piccola fal la casa grande', which translates to 'A small kitchen makes the house big'. To say that Italians have got it right when it comes to kitchen design would be an understatement, judging from the slew of topnotch designers that Milan constantly produces, who grew up with food close to their hearts.

With this in mind, Signature Kitchen recently sealed a collaboration with two leading Italian kitchen designers to launch a new, exclusive collection that is due to debut in Malaysia. Paolo Nava and Fabio Casiraghi, both highly-respected kitchen designers in their own rights, has joined forces in a powerhouse combination with Signature Kitchen to inject a new level of sophistication to this new collection. Between the two, Nava and Casiraghi chart up an impressive resume - having previously designed for a number of great brands such as B&B Italia, Boffi and Kitchen Aid, which garnered several international awards like the ADI Design Index and Compasso d’Oro.

In times when it has become trendy to cook and entertain at home, the kitchen is perceived as the most important part of a home. Most Malaysians would agree that a sizeable chunk of their renovation cost goes into the kitchen. More and more, there is a demand for a home kitchen that not only functional but looks good and stylish. Herein lies the speciality of Nava and Casiraghi - they are experts in reshaping the kitchen into an open, informal space where the boundaries between the cooking and the living areas become seamlessly integrated.

In their past designs, the Italian designers take into consideration the relationship between man and the living space, or between product and architecture and even aesthetic and functional qualities of a material. In his projects, Paolo Nava is interested in the dialogue between his own poetic point of view and the concrete industrial and production requirements, using new concepts, technologies and materials while maintaining a different conceptual approach towards the living space in order to get to a profound transformation of use. Fabio Casiraghi, on the other hand, focuses on the continuous relationship between the two-dimensional language of graphics and the spatial one of architecture.

Signature Kitchen, as the pioneer of the kitchen scene in Malaysia, constantly seeks to reinvent itself in order to elevate the standards of the industry. Shortly after its presence in I Saloni, the Milan Furniture Fair in April 2012, Signature Kitchen spins off a synergy with Nava and Casiraghi. This would undoubtedly establish the benchmark of excellence and quality that Signature Kitchen is known to deliver to its clientele.
